Target Information
Bovine Kynurenine/Alpha-Aminoadipate Aminotransferase, Mitochondrial is encoded by the AADAT gene in cattle. It converts L-2-aminoadipate and 2-oxoglutarate into 2-oxoadipate and L-glutamate. This enzyme is involved in the saccharopine pathway, which is a major pathway for L-lysine catabolism. It plays a role in the final step of converting L-lysine to 2-oxoadipate. Research has suggested that bovine kidney AadAT may have some structural similarity to rat kidney AadAT.
