Target Information

Bovine NADH-ubiquinone Oxidoreductase B14 Subunit is encoded by the NDUFA6 gene in cattle. This gene encodes a member of the LYR family of proteins, which contain a highly conserved tripeptide (LYR) motif near the N-terminus. The encoded protein is an accessory subunit of NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I), the largest enzyme in the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain. Complex I is involved in the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The NDUFA6 gene may be indirectly related to fat percentage. It plays a role in mitochondria where its metabolism affects milk yield and milk fat.
