Specifications
Target Information
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is specific for allergens. IgE binds to high-affinity receptors on immune cells called mast cells and basophils. When the allergen is encountered again, it binds to these IgE antibodies, triggering the release of chemical mediators (such as histamine). Measurement of IgE is a common practice in the study of allergy. It will increase the utility of porcine allergy models and provide an additional measure of type 2 immune response in pigs.
