Target Information

Ppp3ca is a calcium-dependent, calmodulin-stimulated protein phosphatase that plays a crucial role in transmitting intracellular Ca2±mediated signals. In mice, PPP3CA is predominantly expressed in the brain, particularly within neurons, where it regulates synaptic function. For instance, PPP3CA is closely linked to synaptic vesicle recycling and long-term synaptic potentiation (LTP) via calcium signaling pathways, both of which are vital for learning and memory processes. Additionally, PPP3CA has been associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD); reduced expression of PPP3CA can lead to the hyperphosphorylation of tau protein, thereby compromising neuronal stability.
