Target Information

Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) is an endogenous androstane steroid produced by the adrenal cortex. It is a metabolite of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and circulates in far greater relative concentrations than DHEA. DHEA and DHEA-S could be considered as important players in the stress response and potential biomarkers of stress in domestic animals. The body holds DHEAS in reserve and converts it to specific hormones when needed.
