Target Information

NAD-dependent protein deacylase sirtuin-6 (SIRT6) is an enzyme with NAD-dependent deacetylase, deacylase, and mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase activities, crucial for DNA damage repair, telomere maintenance, metabolic homeostasis, inflammation, tumorigenesis, and aging. As a member of the mammalian Sir2 family, SIRT6 is extensively involved in genome stability, metabolic regulation, DNA repair, cellular aging, and various physiological and pathological processes. In mice, SIRT6 is vital for metabolic processes. Neural-specific knockout of SIRT6 in mice leads to growth retardation and obesity, conditions associated with low levels of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1).
