Product Overview
BioVenic rabbit polyclonal antibody is specific for rat transketolase. It is purified by protein A. It can be applied to WB and IHC assays of rat transketolase.
Specifications
Target Information
Rat Transketolase is a thiamine-dependent cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the reversible transfer of two-carbon ketol groups between sugar phosphates in the pentose phosphate pathway. It is highly expressed in liver, kidney, and brain, where it supplies NADPH for antioxidant defense and generates ribose-5-phosphate for nucleotide synthesis. Transketolase activity is sensitive to thiamine deficiency, leading to impaired energy metabolism and oxidative stress. As a key regulator of carbohydrate flux and cellular redox balance, transketolase is an important target for studies of metabolic disorders, thiamine metabolism, and cancer cell biology.
