Target Information

Mouse Myosin Heavy Chain 7, Cardiac Muscle, Beta (MYH7) is the major motor protein of adult cardiac ventricles, forming the thick filaments that drive systolic contraction. This 223 kDa protein binds actin and hydrolyzes ATP to generate the force required for heartbeat maintenance. MYH7 is expressed specifically in cardiomyocytes, serving as a definitive marker of cardiac muscle identity. As a key component of contractile machinery, MYH7 is an important target for studies of cardiac development, hypertrophy, and heart failure.
