Target Information
Mouse Lysophosphatidylcholine Acyltransferase 3 (LPCAT3) is a membrane-bound enzyme that catalyzes the re-acylation of lysophosphatidylcholine to phosphatidylcholine, using polyunsaturated fatty acyl-CoA substrates. It is highly expressed in liver, brain, and adipose tissue, where it controls membrane phospholipid composition, regulates lipid droplet dynamics, and modulates inflammatory mediator production. LPCAT3 activity influences membrane fluidity, eicosanoid synthesis, and cellular stress responses. As a key regulator of phospholipid remodeling and PUFA incorporation, LPCAT3 is an important target for studies of lipid metabolism, membrane biology, and inflammatory regulation.
