Rat Fibrillin 1 is a 350-kDa glycoprotein that assembles into extracellular microfibrils, providing elastic tissue architecture in aorta, lung and skin. Its calcium-binding EGF domains stabilize filamentous networks that anchor cells and sequester growth factors. Fibrillin 1 offers a species-specific marker for intact elastic fibers and mechanosensitive matrices. Affinity-purified antibodies deliver crisp immunostaining and quantitative western signals without cross-reactivity to fibrillin 2, enabling precise analysis of elastic fiber assembly, ageing and hypertension-related remodeling in rat cardiovascular and pulmonary models.
