Target Information
Mouse transaldolase is a key enzyme of the pentose-phosphate pathway that catalyzes the reversible transfer of a three-carbon unit between sedoheptulose-7-phosphate and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate, generating fructose-6-phosphate and erythrose-4-phosphate. This reaction links oxidative and non-oxidative branches of the pathway, supplying ribose precursors for nucleotide biosynthesis and maintaining cellular redox balance by controlling NADPH production. The enzyme is ubiquitously expressed, with highest activity in liver, kidney and testis. Its conserved catalytic Schiff-base mechanism and tissue-restricted isoforms make transaldolase an excellent antigen for antibody generation, enabling specific detection of metabolic reprogramming without cross-reactivity to other sugar-transferring enzymes.
