Target Information
Rat latexin is a 29 kDa cytosolic carboxypeptidase inhibitor whose two-domain wedge slots onto the catalytic face of mast-cell CPB1, shutting down exopeptidase activity. A solvent-exposed 14-residue "SKP" loop (aa 105-118) between β-sheets 4 and 5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat protease inhibitors, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after aldehyde fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native latexin in cerebellar granule cells, cortical neurons, and pancreatic acini, delivering crisp cytoplasmic puncta and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to other cytosolic inhibitors.
