Target Information

Mouse collagen type I alpha 2 is a 140 kDa fibrillar chain whose Gly-X-Y repeats wind into heterotrimeric fibers, dominating bone, skin, and tendon extracellular matrix. A solvent-exposed 16-aa "KVE" loop (aa 235-250) within the triple helix folds into a β-turn unique among mouse fibrillar collagens, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after pepsin digestion and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native alpha 2 chains in calvarial bone, dermal stroma, and periodontal ligament, delivering crisp fibrillar tracks and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to collagen type I alpha 1 or type III.
