Target Information
Rat macrophage stimulating protein (MSP) is a 78-kDa secreted glycoprotein primarily synthesized in rat liver. It is processed into an active heterodimer that binds its receptor RON (MST1R) on macrophages, monocytes, and epithelial cells, triggering signaling cascades. It regulates macrophage activation, chemotaxis, and phagocytosis, while also modulating epithelial cell proliferation, migration, and tissue repair. Ubiquitously expressed in rat tissues-with elevated levels in liver, spleen, and inflamed sites-it links innate immunity and tissue homeostasis. As a key mediator of macrophage function and tissue repair, rat MSP is a critical target for studying inflammatory disorders, wound healing, and immune-related pathological mechanisms.
