Target Information
Mouse apolipoprotein B (ApoB) is a 512-kDa glycoprotein predominantly synthesized in mouse hepatocytes and intestinal enterocytes. It serves as the structural core of atherogenic lipoproteins (LDL, VLDL, chylomicrons), mediating lipid transport (cholesterol, triglycerides) throughout the murine circulatory system. Critical for systemic lipid homeostasis, it enables lipoprotein assembly and receptor-mediated uptake by peripheral tissues. Dysregulated expression or function associates with hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, and fatty liver disease in mice. As a central mediator of lipid metabolism and a key marker of cardiovascular risk, mouse ApoB is a critical target for studying metabolic disorders, atherosclerotic pathobiology, and lipid-lowering therapeutic development.
