Target Information

Fibrillin-1 is encoded by the FBN1 gene in pigs. FBN1 is the major structural component of extracellular microfibrils and is distributed throughout the body as the connective tissue matrix of tissues such as skin, lung, kidney, blood vessels, cartilage, tendon, muscle, cornea, and ciliary zonule. Mutations in the FBN1 gene can lead to Marfan syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting connective tissues.
