Target Information
Tumor protein p73 is involved in the apoptotic response to DNA damage. Isoforms with the transactivation domain are pro-apoptotic, while those lacking the domain are anti-apoptotic and inhibit the functions of p53 and the transactivating p73 isoforms. It may function as a tumor suppressor protein. Additionally, it acts as an activator of FOXJ1 expression, which is crucial for promoting lung ciliated cell differentiation. In mice, TAp73 (the full-length, transcriptionally active isoform) and ΔNp73 (the truncated isoform without transcriptional activation) regulate cell fate through different mechanisms. TAp73 serves multiple roles in mice, including tumor suppression, regulation of apoptosis, development, neuroprotection, and influencing metabolism and aging.
