Target Information

Triiodothyronine, commonly referred to as T3, is one of the two primary hormones produced by the thyroid gland. It plays a crucial role in nearly all physiological processes, such as growth and development, metabolism, regulation of body temperature, and heart rate. T3 has a wide range of physiological functions in mice, including regulating metabolism, affecting fat and bone metabolism, regulating cardiovascular function, and participating in the metabolism and feedback regulation of thyroid hormones. T3 is able to inhibit the secretion of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). In dethyroidized mice, T3 injection leads to a decrease in TSH levels, which may be due to competitive binding of T3 to TSH receptors.
