Target Information

Protein kinase C beta type is a serine/threonine-protein kinase activated by calcium, phospholipids, and diacylglycerol (DAG). It participates in several cellular processes, including regulation of the B-cell receptor (BCR) signalosome, apoptosis induced by oxidative stress, androgen receptor-dependent transcription regulation, insulin signaling, and the proliferation of endothelial cells. It plays a crucial role in B-cell activation by modulating BCR-induced NF-kappa-B activation. In mice, it is encoded by the Prkcb gene. Studies have shown that protein kinase C β1 expression is significantly upregulated in a mouse cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model, suggesting that it may play an important role in neuroprotection.
