Target Information
Osteomodulin is a small, extracellular matrix protein involved in bone mineralization and regulating interactions between osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and the surrounding matrix. It is found in bone tissue, specifically associated with the mineralized matrix. It is encoded by the OMD gene in cattle. It is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan family, distributes in mineralized tissues and is positively regulated by bone morphogenetic protein 2
