Target Information

The guanylate cyclase soluble subunit beta-1 facilitates responses to nitric oxide (NO) by catalyzing the production of the signaling molecule cGMP. In mice, the absence of GUCY1B1 results in intestinal dysmotility, leading to gastrointestinal dysfunction, which underscores its critical role in maintaining normal intestinal motility. In mouse tumor models, GUCY1B1 expression levels are closely linked to tumor progression. For instance, in mouse lung adenocarcinoma, decreased expression of GUCY1B1 is associated with increased tumor growth and resistance to chemotherapy. Research indicates that the loss of GUCY1B1 can significantly extend tumor growth duration, highlighting its role in tumor initiation and progression.
