Target Information

c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNKs) play diverse roles in mice, including involvement in inflammation, metabolism, cell proliferation, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and other areas. JNK1, also known as Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase 8, is a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in various cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, transformation, and programmed cell death. Studies using mice deficient in JNK1 or JNK2 have shown that JNK1, and not JNK2, is specifically activated by the osteoclast-differentiating factor RANKL. The activation of JNK1, unlike JNK2, is crucial for effective osteoclastogenesis from bone marrow monocytes (BMMs).
