Target Information
In mice, PDZK1IP1 is primarily involved in regulating various biological processes such as hematopoiesis, tumor suppression, cell migration, and differentiation. PDZK1IP1 plays a crucial role in the differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells. Research indicates that the PDZK1IP1 gene's promoter region contains an enhancer expressed in the fetal liver, which synergistically regulates TAL1 gene expression, impacting the differentiation and function of hematopoietic stem cells. PDZK1IP1 exhibits dual roles in various cancers. On one hand, it suppresses tumor growth by inhibiting the TGF-β signaling pathway; for example, in a mouse xenograft model, cells expressing PDZK1IP1 showed significant tumor volume reduction and longer survival. Conversely, in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), PDZK1IP1 boosts cancer invasiveness by inhibiting the TGF-β signaling pathway and promoting cell migration and EMT processes. In the context of hyperlipidemia and lipid metabolism, PDZK1IP1 regulates liver lipid metabolism by interacting with the SR-BI protein. PDZK1IP1 knockout mice show a marked decrease in SR-BI protein levels, resulting in abnormal cholesterol metabolism.
