Target Information
Ras-specific guanine nucleotide-releasing factor 1, also known as Cell Division Cycle Protein 25 or RasGrf1, is expressed in pancreatic β cells. Its absence results in a reduced number of pancreatic β cells, insufficient insulin secretion, and decreased glucose tolerance, culminating in insulin deficiency and hyperglycemia. Mice lacking RasGrf1 exhibit defects in memory consolidation, impaired long-term potentiation (LTP), and decreased synaptic plasticity. Additionally, RasGrf1-deficient mice display traits such as an extended lifespan, reduced weight, enhanced antioxidant capacity, and lower insulin/IGF-1 levels.
