Target Information

Integrins alpha-4/beta-1 (VLA-4 or LPAM-2) and alpha-4/beta-7 (LPAM-1) serve as receptors for fibronectin, specifically recognizing one or more domains within the alternatively spliced CS-1 and CS-5 regions. They also function as receptors for VCAM1, with integrin alpha-4/beta-1 recognizing the Q-I-D-S sequence in VCAM1. Integrin α-4 plays a crucial role in the development of mouse skeletal muscle and is involved in the regeneration of neuronal axons within the nervous system. Research has shown that following sciatic nerve injury in mice, the immune response involving integrin α-4 is significantly enhanced, and its cytoplasmic domain is essential for neurite growth.
