Target Information
Interferon alpha-11 exhibits antiviral and antiproliferative properties. It is produced by macrophages and stimulates the production of two enzymes: a protein kinase and an oligoadenylate synthetase. IFNa11 is involved in various immune responses, particularly in antiviral defense. Its expression is also altered in certain neuroimmune diseases. For instance, in mice infected with JCV and INKV, there is a significant upregulation of IFNa11 expression. Younger mice (such as BXD2) have lower IFNa11 expression levels compared to adult mice (such as B6), possibly reflecting age-related changes in immune function. Additionally, IFNa11 expression varies across tissues, being higher in the spleen and lymph nodes and lower in others, suggesting its functional roles differ by tissue type.
