Target Information
The plasmin-antiplasmin system plays a key role in blood coagulation and fibrinolysis. The plasmin-α2-antiplasmin complex (PAP) is an irreversibly formed 1:1 inactive complex of the enzyme plasmin and its inhibitor α2-antiplasmin. It is a marker of the activity of the fibrinolytic system and a marker of the net activation of fibrinolysis. Plasmin and alpha-2-antiplasmin are primarily responsible for the controlled and regulated dissolution of fibrin polymers into soluble fragments.
