Target Information

Programmed cell death 1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) is essential for inducing and maintaining immune tolerance to self. By acting as a ligand for the inhibitory receptor PDCD1/PD-1, PD-L1 modulates the activation threshold of T-cells and curtails the T-cell effector response. In mice, the functions of PD-L1 are complex and varied, encompassing the maintenance of immune tolerance, protection against autoimmune diseases, facilitation of tumor immune escape, and regulation of T-cell function. In a mouse xenograft model, blocking PD-L1 signaling leads to increased graft rejection.
