Target Information
Bovine Synaptosomal-Associated Protein 25 is encoded by the SNAP25 gene in cattle. SNAP-25 is a soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) protein. It participates, along with syntaxin-1 and synaptobrevin/VAMP, in the regulation of synaptic vesicle exocytosis. It helps control the release of neurotransmitters at synapses. Research suggests that truncated SNAP25 competes with endogenous SNAP25 for binding with other SNARE proteins involved in transmitter release, inhibiting neurotransmitter exocytosis.
