Target Information
Solute Carrier Family 2, Facilitated Glucose Transporter Member 4 (SLC2A4), also known as GLUT4, is encoded by the SLC2A4 gene in pigs. GLUT4 is an insulin-regulated facilitative glucose transporter. Its primary role is to remove glucose from circulation. In the absence of insulin, GLUT4 is efficiently retained intracellularly within storage compartments in muscle and fat cells. It is a crucial component of glucose metabolism, regulating the transportation of glucose into muscle tissues in response to insulin after exercise.
