Target Information
Suppression of Tumorigenicity 2 (ST2) is a member of interleukin-1 receptor family and has two key isoforms: the ST2 ligand (ST2L) and soluble ST2 (sST2). The ST2L is a transmembrane receptor, while sST2 circulates in the bloodstream as a soluble receptor. Although ST2 is primarily considered a pro-inflammatory factor, it may have the ability to inhibit tumor formation under certain circumstances. Studies in mice have demonstrated that those lacking the ST2 gene exhibited increased cardiac fibrosis and a greater cardiomyocyte cross-sectional area following transverse aortic constriction, compared to mice possessing the ST2 gene.
