Target Information
Fibroblast growth factor 4 (FGF4) is crucial for regulating embryonic development, cell proliferation, and differentiation. It is vital for the postimplantation survival of mouse embryos and is necessary for normal development of limbs and cardiac valves during embryogenesis. FGF4 may also play a role in the development of embryonic molar tooth buds by inducing the expression of MSX1, MSX2, and MSX1-mediated SDC1 expression in dental mesenchyme cells. In mice, FGF4 is involved in post-implantation development, limb formation, cell proliferation and differentiation, tumor formation, and metabolic regulation. In mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), the external addition of FGF4 significantly enhances proliferation, relying on the c-Jun signaling pathway. Additionally, in a mouse lung adenocarcinoma model, FGF4 promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by increasing store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) and related protein expression.
