Target Information
IgG2b engages in immune effector functions by binding to specific Fc receptors, such as FcγRIII and FcRIV. For instance, research indicates that IgG2b regulates immune responses in mice through these receptor interactions, contributing to the defense against viral and parasitic infections. Notably, IgG2b levels increase after mice are infected with Toxocara canis, potentially linked to the regulation of mixed Th1/Th2 responses. IgG2b can also mitigate inflammatory responses and the polarization of M2 macrophages by binding to CD32b (FcγRIIb) produced by TGF-β, thus offering protection in conditions like atherosclerosis. Furthermore, IgG2b helps protect mice by reducing inflammation and plaque formation. With a rapid metabolic rate and a short half-life of approximately 5 days, IgG2b acts swiftly in acute immune responses but is limited in sustaining long-term immune memory.
