Target Information

V-type proton ATPase catalytic subunit A (ATP6V1A) is an enzyme encoded by the ATP6V1A gene in cattle. ATP6V1A is a component of the vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase), a multisubunit enzyme. V-ATPase mediates acidification of eukaryotic intracellular organelles. Organelle acidification is essential for processes like protein sorting, zymogen activation, receptor-mediated endocytosis, and synaptic vesicle proton gradient generation. It has been demonstrated that ATP6V1A mutations can be disease causing at the heterozygous state.
