Target Information
Intestinal-type alkaline phosphatase is an enzyme capable of hydrolyzing various phosphate compounds. This enzyme, a product of late evolutionary development, displays unique activity and high specificity in mammals. In rodents, such as rats and mice, intestinal alkaline phosphatase emerges during the third trimester of embryonic development and is expressed in intestinal epithelial cells, suggesting a significant role in intestinal development and function. Its heterogeneity is attributed to variations in peptide bond hydrolysis and glycosylation, which may indicate the diverse functions of intestinal alkaline phosphatase across different tissues and physiological conditions.
