Target Information

C-C chemokine receptor type 6 (CCR6) serves as a receptor for the C-C type chemokine CCL20. Upon binding to CCL20, it transmits a signal by elevating intracellular calcium ion levels. In mice, CCR6 primarily influences bone marrow metabolism, osteoblast differentiation, and immune system regulation. It impacts bone marrow metabolism by modulating the expression of osteoblast-related genes, such as Osterix and OPG/RANKL. Mice lacking CCR6 exhibit reduced osteoblast activity, evidenced by decreased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, impaired mineralization ability, and hindered differentiation of osteoblasts.
