Target Information
V-type proton ATPase subunit S1 is encoded by the ATP6AP1 gene in bovine. This protein acts as a molecular pump within cells, using energy to transport protons (hydrogen ions) across membranes. It plays a crucial role in various cellular processes, including maintaining proper pH balance in different cellular compartments and driving nutrient uptake and other essential processes requiring proton movement. It is an accessory subunit of vacuolar-type H+-ATPases. It was found to be highly induced by receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand in osteoclast differentiation.
