Target Information
Bovine S-Adenosylmethionine Decarboxylase Proenzyme is encoded by the AMD1 gene in cattle. It is a pyruvoyl-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the formation of the aminopropyl group donor in the biosynthesis of the polyamines spermidine and spermine. AMD1 is the second rate-limiting enzyme in the polyamine biosynthetic pathway. This enzyme converts putrescine to other polyamines such as spermine and spermidine. It is a key enzyme for the synthesis of polyamines in mammals, plants and many other species.
