Mouse Bone Morphogenetic Protein Receptor Type-2 (BMPR2) ELISA Kit-Sandwich

Upon binding with a ligand, bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-2 (BMPR2) forms a receptor complex composed of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. The type II receptors phosphorylate and activate the type I receptors, which then autophosphorylate and proceed to bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. BMPR2 is crucial in pulmonary artery endothelial cells, where its signaling modulates endothelial cell proliferation, apoptosis, and angiogenesis through pathways like SMAD1/5/9. Loss of BMPR2 results in endothelial cell dysfunction, characterized by increased cell apoptosis, vascular remodeling, and an amplified inflammatory response. For instance, mice with a conditional knockout of Bmpr2 exhibit increased right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP), pulmonary artery muscularization, and vascular remodeling in pulmonary artery endothelial cells.
