Target Information
Apolipoprotein C-III (Apo-CIII), also known as apolipoprotein C3, is a protein encoded by the APOC3 gene in cattle. Apo-CIII is secreted by the liver as well as the small intestine. It plays an important role in regulating the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and has been regarded as a main component of chylomicrons and very-low-density lipoproteins. Elevated levels of Apo-CIII are associated with cardiovascular risk.
