Target Information
Tyrosine-protein kinase BTK is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase crucial for the development, differentiation, and signaling of B lymphocytes. When an antigen binds to the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR), it initiates signaling that leads to B-cell activation. BTK, a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase belonging to the Tec family, is vital for B cell receptor (BCR) signaling. In mice, mutations in the BTK gene result in X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XID), characterized by halted B cell development, though B cells are still present. Beyond its role in B cell function, BTK is also important in the innate immune system of mice.
