Target Information
Spexin is part of the galanin/kisspeptin/spexin family of peptides. This peptide, consisting of 14 amino acids, is highly conserved and plays a role in various homeostatic functions, such as metabolism, energy balance, and reproduction. Spexin was found to inhibit reproductive performance, and the specific mechanism may involve the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicle axis. In mice, Spexin lowers serum total bile acid levels by regulating bile acid metabolism pathways and inhibits the expression of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) by regulating bile acid metabolism pathways, and inhibits the expression of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1).
