Feline calprotectin (fCAL) is an emerging fecal biomarker used in veterinary medicine to detect and monitor intestinal inflammation. It is a calcium-binding protein complex (S100A8/S100A9) primarily found in neutrophils-the white blood cells that rush to the site of an infection or injury.
