Glutathione peroxidase 3 is a member of the glutathione peroxidase (GPx) family of enzymes, which plays an important role in health due to its antioxidant function. It acts as an antioxidant enzyme, scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body. GPX3 is widely expressed in the Leydig cells and seminiferous tubules of Hu sheep and GPX3 in a large group has a higher potential in addressing oxidative stress and contribute to spermatogenesis.
