Target Information
Mouse Gastrin (Gast) is a hormone that stimulates the secretion of gastric acid and pepsinogen in the stomach. It is primarily produced by G cells in the gastric antrum and duodenum. Gastrin promotes gastric motility and growth of the gastric mucosa. It also plays a role in regulating the balance of gastrointestinal flora. Abnormal levels of gastrin can lead to conditions such as gastrinoma, a tumor that causes excessive secretion of gastric acid. In mouse models, gastrin deficiency can result in hypochlorhydria, a condition characterized by low stomach acid levels.
