Target Information
Mouse Fibroblast Growth Factor 12 (Fgf12) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor homologous factors (FHF) subfamily. It is highly expressed in excitable tissues such as neurons and cardiomyocytes. Fgf12 is involved in modulating ion channels, particularly sodium channels, and plays a role in preventing apoptosis. In the nervous system, Fgf12 interacts with sodium channels to regulate action potential firing and neuronal excitability. It also forms complexes with signaling proteins and regulates cytoskeletal dynamics. Fgf12 has been implicated in various diseases, including cardiac fibrosis, where it regulates macrophage activation and fibroblast crosstalk.
