Target Information

Mouse Spermidine/Spermine N1-Acetyltransferase 1 (SAT1) is a cytosolic enzyme that transfers an acetyl group from acetyl-CoA to the N1 position of spermidine or spermine, initiating polyamine catabolism and lowering intracellular polyamine pools. Expressed in liver, brain, and kidney, SAT1 activity modulates cell growth, differentiation, and oxidative stress responses. Its induction by polyamine analogues, hormones, and toxins links SAT1 to metabolic adaptation and cytoprotection. As the rate-limiting step in polyamine turnover, SAT1 is an important target for studies of polyamine metabolism, aging, and cancer biology.
