Mouse osteoprotegerin (OPG) is a secreted 55 kDa glycoprotein that targets and neutralizes RANKL, blocking its interaction with RANK on osteoclast precursors and thereby inhibiting bone resorption. Its C-terminal TNF receptor homology domain provides a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation; anti-OPG immunoreagents quantify soluble OPG in serum, bone-marrow supernatants and conditioned media without cross-reacting with other TNF receptor family members, delivering a precise read-out of osteoclast suppression and skeletal remodeling balance.
