Target Information
Mouse Membrane Cofactor Protein (MCP), also known as CD46, is a regulator of complement activation (RCA) protein expressed on the surface of nucleated cells. It functions as a cofactor for factor I, facilitating the degradation of C3b and C4b, thereby protecting cells from complement-mediated damage. MCP plays a vital role in maintaining immune homeostasis by preventing excessive complement activation. In addition to its protective role, MCP is involved in cell signaling pathways and contributes to immune regulation.
