Target Information
Bovine transforming growth factor beta 3 (TGF-β3) is a 25 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer whose C-terminal cystine-knot binds TβRII and ALK5, triggering Smad phosphorylation and ECM deposition. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 92-105) between pre-helix 1 and β2 folds into a β-hairpin unique among bovine TGF-β isoforms, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after activation and fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native TGF-β3 in fetal cartilage, pulmonary mesenchyme, and healing dermis, delivering crisp extracellular deposition and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to TGF-β1 or TGF-β2.
